The annual closing ceremony was the platform for the glamorous event which took
part in the ISAS Auditorium. The spotlight was on the certificate awards, the
inauguration of the NUL SIFE President and Executive and bidding farewell to the SIFE
completing students.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adelani Ogunrinade not only graced the event with
his presence, but also was a keynote speaker and presented certificates to
deserving members. The ceremony had elements of a star -studded movie premierè courtesy of
the dressed-to-kill members and guests alike, who were treated to the presentation of a
SIFE overview of projects and plans for the next academic year. The NUL SIFE will be
competing in the SIFE National competitions of 4th July leading to the SIFE WORLD CUP IN SINGAPORE,
early September. The ceremony ended in style with what was called a photo extravaganza, and glamour
was the order of the afternoon. Only the red carpet was missing. “Taking
people out of poverty, if not, poverty out of people!!”
The Vice-Chancellor in his speech encouraged the NUL SIFE to recruit more
students into SIFE from various faculties. He also pointed out to members to dwell
more on projects with tangible results and projects that are aimed at theneedy.
The Head of Department of Business Administration, Mr. Thabiso Litšiba, in his
speech, encouraged and congratulated all members who showed efforts and went out
of their school time to do SIFE work. He also stressed the idea of getting SIFE activities
phenomenally across all courses of NUL and instils the spirit of SIFE among all students.
The out-going President of SIFE, Mr. Mahao Lebaka, urged NUL management to fully
assist the SIFE team of NUL in carrying out its projects because the SIFE team restore
the dignity of the University. He went on to praise the responsibilities of NUL SIFE,
saying “when all people think NUL students are drunkards who would stop at nothing to
do bad things, there are other students who not only think of themselves but also
the community and country they live in”.
