ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/PROFESSOR/ SENIOR LECTURER/ LECTURER BACHELOR LIBRAY AND INFORMATION STUDIES (BLIS)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of an Associate Professor/Professor/ Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer in the BLIS Programme.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Lecturer
- Master of Library and Information Studies or equivalent
- At least three (3) years of teaching history at the University level
- Teaching, initially at undergraduate level
- Should have excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills
- Should have proven ability to conduct scholarly research
- Should be computer literate
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares lectures and delivers them to undergraduate students.
- Sets tests, examinations and course work
- Administers and invigilates tests and examinations
- Marks tests, coursework and examinations scripts, compiles and grades examination results
- Guides and advises students on their academic performance
- Conducts research and disseminates research findings through conferences, seminars and publications
- Supervises undergraduate students undertaking research projects
- Carries out official administrative duties in the department as directed by the Head of Department
- Contributes to the University and wider society through community service
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Senior Lecturer
- Master of Library and Information Studies or equivalent
- PhD or registration for PhD in Library in Information Studies will be an added advantage
- At least three (6) years of teaching history at the University level
- Teaching, initially at undergraduate level
- Should have excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills
- Should have proven ability to conduct scholarly research
- Should be computer literate

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Associate Professor/Professor
- PhD in Library and Information Studies or equivalent
- At least three (4) years of teaching history at the University level
- Teaching, initially at undergraduate level, with specialisation in at least three of specialisations offered, and possibility of teaching at graduate level in due course
- At least 3 journal articles in accredited journals, 1 peer-reviewed book(s) chapter(s), 3 published proceedings, and mainly not older than five years
- Supervising undergraduate research projects and postgraduate dissertations
- Undertaking research in LIS area(s) of expertise
- Collaborating in research programs of the Unit/Department/Faculty
- Carrying out teaching and conduct research in his/her area of expertise;
- Participating, together with the Coordinator and Head, in the administrative plans, activities and processes aimed at developing LIS programme at NUL
- Readiness to teach in postgraduate LIS programme as soon as NUL embarks on it
Remuneration
The University offers competitive salaries and other benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Employment Type
-A permanent and pensionable contract for locals.
- A Contract of initially TWO (2) years for a non-local, with a possibility of a renewal of contract upon a satisfactory performance in the initial contract.
