Assoc. Prof. Keneuoe Anacletta Motšoene
Keneuoe Anacletta Motšoene is an Associate Professor and Director of Moshoeshoe 1 Institute of Peace and Leadership. She has worked in the department of Development Studies from February 2004 to October 2021 when she assumed a directorship in MIPL. She studied for Ph.D. in development studies at the Witwatersrand University from July 2008 to December 2013; MA in Development Studies in Economics for Development at the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague from August 2002 to December 2003; BA in Economics and Public Administration at the National University of Lesotho from August 1993 to July 1997. She has also intensively trained in Peace and Conflict Management by the United Nations Institute of Training and Research (UNITAR) in April 2021 and the African Centre for Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) in 2018 and 2019 respectively. She has a track record of publications in the areas of development including Sustainable development, Gender, International Trade, Governance, urbanization; and Peace and Conflict Management.

Background
In 2015, the National University of Lesotho turned seventy years and embarked on its third home-grown introspection. From this exercise, a consensus was reached to establish the Moshoeshoe I Institute of Peace and Leadership to promote a culture of servant leadership and a culture of peace through research, teaching, and training of new scope of national and regional leaders who exude the values of Morena Moshoeshoe I. In 2018, the Institute began its work of cultivating servant leadership, empathy, peace, and nation-building. As the Moshoeshoe I Institute for Peace and Leadership, we are committed to furthering both the research in the field of peace, leadership, and the practice of conflict resolution. In this effort, we are taking the Moshoeshoe I’s unwavering dedication to peace as our beacon and guide.

Objectives of the Institute
- Promote Morena Moshoeshoe’s attributes of Leadership and Peace (SeMoshoeshoe)
- Provide a focus for teaching, research, and training to develop the skills of students and practitioners in the areas of Leadership and Peace
- Conduct strategic studies on the effectiveness and efficiency of policies for addressing post-independence national leadership and peace challenges
- Conduct national capacity-building training programmes in the areas of Leadership and Peace
- Promote dialogue and interaction between institutions, researchers, and policymakers in the SADC region and beyond on issues of Leadership and Peace
- Strengthen the profile of Lesotho as a brand and restore Lesotho’s position as a pioneer in Leadership and Peace studies on the continent
- Disseminate research findings to a wide spectrum of stakeholders through information and communication technologies (ICT)
- National Youth capacity building in Leadership and Peacebuilding
Staff Profiles
Coordinator's Office
Liphapang Monesa is currently the Coordinator in the Moshoeshoe I Institute of Peace and Leadership. He previously worked for the Christian Council of Lesotho (CCL) as a programme manager in the Department of Good Governance and Human Rights. He holds a BA in Public Administration and Sociology (2012), and a MA in Development Studies (2021) all from the National University of Lesotho. He is currently enrolled for graduate studies to earn a PhD in Public Administration: Peace Studies at Durban University of Technology.
In addition to academic learning, he has received training in conflict management from the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) and also from the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD). Some of his skills in conflict management include: facilitating a high-level training meeting on conflict management for the principal chiefs, senators, and heads of churches of CCL, and also hosting the first intergenerational dialogue on peace at the National University of Lesotho in 2019.

Administrative Office
Molemo Bereng is currently an Administrator and/or PA (Secretary) to the office of the Director Moshoeshoe I Institute of Peace and Leadership at the National University of Lesotho Main Campus. He is an exceptional individual who plays a crucial role in supporting the Director and ensuring the smooth functioning of the office. He developed a passion for social justice, patriotism, and fostering positive change from a strong background in administrative support and a deep commitment to promoting peace and leadership from the Moshoeshoe I Institute of Peace and Leadership-NUL. This passion, coupled with his natural organizational skills, led him to an ambition to pursue a career in Master Arts in Peace and Leadership and also Diplomatic courses, where they could contribute to meaningful causes and support influential leaders in making a difference.
He obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree specialising in Accounting and also a Diploma in Business Management all from the National University of Lesotho. During his academic journey, he excelled in courses related to communication, organisation, and problem-solving, which laid a solid foundation for his future role as an administrator. In addition to academic learning, he has also received several trainings related to conflict management, ethical leadership, emotional intelligence, self-awareness and SeMoshoeshoe from the Moshoeshoe I Institute of Peace and Leadership and also from the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD).
