POST NO. 3657: - PROFESSOR/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the above position:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should have:
- A PhD in Agricultural Extension with not less than ten years teaching experience in Agricultural Extension courses.
- Extensive record in research and publishing in Agricultural Extension and related fields.
- Experience in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Management and leadership experience at the institution of higher learning.
- Demonstrated successful supervision of graduated MSc and PhD students.
- Proven international recognition for specialist expertise and research leadership in the area smallholder agriculture.
- Ability to teach Research methods will be an added advantage.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Demonstrate a leadership role in research related to agricultural development, smallholder agriculture and agricultural food policy.
- Present courses in agricultural extension, rural development, policy and research methodology.
- Develop and present short learning courses for smallholder and commercial farmers.
- Synthesise knowledge through the publication of scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.
- Communicate research findings at scientific conferences.
- Source funding for research from international and national funding organisations.
- Actively participate in the professional community.
- Actively participate in the agricultural community.
- Engage in research supervision of postgraduate students at Masters and Doctorate level.
- Actively conduct research on smallholder agriculture, agricultural food policy and agricultural development and extension.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the development of the Department and Faculty of Agriculture.
The candidate will be expected to carryout administrative and any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Head of the Department and the Dean of the Faculty.

The University offers competitive salaries and other benefits. The terms and conditions of service will be on a two year (2) contract.
