The National University of Lesotho (NUL) and Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL) have on Thursday, March 06th, signed a “Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)”, focusing on cooperation and strategic partnership.
The signing event took place at NUL, Roma Campus in the presence of Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Lesotho, Professor Olusola Fajana. The signing was performed by the Registrar, Mrs. Liteboho Maqalika-Lerotholi on behalf of NUL and the Commissioner General, Mrs. ‘Mathabo Mokoko, signed on behalf of the RSL. The event was under the auspices of the NUL Faculty of Law (FOL).
The MOU covers various areas of cooperation, including laboratory analysis, research and publication, education and training, exchange of knowledge and information, graduate internships, mentorship, and recruitment. It also includes trade-related advocacy, guidance for NUL students on topical tax research areas for their undergraduate and graduate projects, access to data from tax-related research studies, surveys, and questionnaires, as well as awards for best academic performers, innovative ideas, and viable research outputs.
In her remarks, RSL Commissioner General, Mrs. ‘Mathabo Mokoko, stated that the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding marks a significant milestone in the collective commitment to fostering collaboration in areas that will drive inclusive knowledge creation, enhance professional development, and contribute to national development.
The Vice-Chancellor of NUL, Professor Olusola Fajana, expressed that the occasion was a testament to the fruitful partnership between the two organizations. He emphasized that this collaboration would go a long way in strengthening knowledge sharing and research efforts between RSL and NUL.
This “Agreement” between NUL and RSL will enable the two institutions to join efforts in areas that encompasses research and publications, education and training, exchange of knowledge and information, graduates’ internships, international trade, business, taxation and economy.
Present at the occasion were NUL and RSL staff, students from the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) and Faculty of Law (FOL), and the different media houses.
