On Friday, 11th April, 2025, staff members of the National University of Lesotho (NUL) from both the Roma and Institute of Extra-Mural Studies (IEMS) campuses came together in a spirit of unity and solidarity to participate in a series of sporting activities held in celebration of the University’s 80th anniversary.

The vibrant sports festivities commenced with a fun walk from Ha Basiane, located outside the Roma campus, to the Netherlands Hall. These activities followed the official launch of the NUL 80th Anniversary celebrations, which took place on 08th April 2025 at the Roma campus and was graced by His Majesty King Letsie III, the NUL Chancellor.

Staff members enthusiastically took part in a range of physical activities including rhythmic aerobic exercises, tug of war, volleyball, netball, soccer, and darts.

In interviews conducted during the events, many NUL staff expressed their satisfaction with both the organization and the spirit of the anniversary sports program. They emphasized that such activities foster unity and strengthen bonds among colleagues from the two campuses.

Successive monthly activities for 80th Anniversary include seminars and conferences; dialogues; exhibitions showcasing NUL academic programs, research, innovations and community engagement initiatives; gala dinner; tree planting in the six campuses of the University; student competitions and several campaigns.
