Revamped NUL Website Goes Live

The National University of Lesotho (NUL) is celebrating its 80th anniversary with a significant digital milestone—the launch of a fully revamped, interactive website designed to improve engagement and visibility both locally and internationally.

The revamped website officially went live on February 4, 2025, and is a key part of the University’s efforts to align with the goals outlined in the NUL Strategic Plan 2022–2027, which emphasizes recalibrating NUL’s relevance, quality, and visibility (global presence). As NUL reflects on eight decades of academic excellence, the new website underscores a commitment to innovation and effective communication with its wide-ranging stakeholders both internally and externally.

The updated platform serves as a vital communication tool, offering a visually appealing, easy-to-navigate experience for prospective and current students, alumni, researchers, and the broader community. It features a dynamic interface and a host of new functionalities aimed at improving public outreach and strengthening the University’s image and web presence.

NUL Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Olusola Fajana indicated that this is more than a facelift rather, it is a strategic tool to support the University’s academic mission and international outreach.

He stated that the website serves as a central information hub for prospective and current students, alumni, academic staff, researchers, and development partners. He further argued that stakeholders now have a one-stop destination for everything NUL—from academic programmes and research initiatives to institutional achievements, innovations, community engagements, announcements, and recruitment and procurement updates.

“In line with our Strategic Vision of Recalibrating Relevance, Quality, and Visibility, this is more than just the unveiling of a new digital platform—it’s the beginning of a new era in how we engage with our community, share our story, and serve our users. Today, we are not just unveiling a website; we are taking a significant step forward in strengthening NUL’s position in the digital landscape and enhancing our visibility on the global stage”, he said.

Prof. Fajana also noted that the website features a comprehensive sitemap, ensuring every page is just a click away, and it includes a powerful search engine, so that one can find the information one needs with ease.

“It is visually appealing, incorporating engaging images, multimedia, and audio-visual elements, all carefully aligned with the University’s corporate colors and branding. Every aspect has been designed with the user experience in mind, ensuring that navigating through the website is intuitive and easy for everyone. This tool will also help improve our global rankings”, he added.

Additionally, the platform supports global collaboration, offering researchers a streamlined way to connect with NUL experts and contribute to shared projects. It will also bolster the University’s student enrolment and fundraising efforts through an accessible and informative online presence.

The Vice-Chancellor further invited the NUL alumni to register via the website and keep in touch with their Alma Mater. The purpose of registration is to build a database that will enable interaction between NUL and former students, establish linkages among alumni in different regions, help raise the profile of NUL and enhance contributions to the University in various ways.

“For those concerned with data security, rest assured that critical databases, such as the NUL Alumni Registration, are stored securely and efficiently”, Prof. Fajana expressed reassurance.

The site is fully responsive, ensuring an optimal browsing experience across all internet browsers and gadgets – an essential feature to our learners during applications for enrolment as well as when accessing internal systems”, she explained.

Leader of the design team, Ms. Nthabeleng Jimson, showcased the revamped website highlighting the salient aspects of the design and the commitment to ensuring the website is secure, accessible, and user-focused.

We have built this website with the future in mind. It is designed to grow with us—allowing for the inclusion of new pages, updates, and features as our university’s needs evolve and to accommodate future developments.
