Staff Faculty: Educational Foundations

Teaches courses in philosophy of Education; supervises postgraduate students; Serves as the Faculty of Education’s Quality Assurance Coordinator; Research interests include philosophical issues in education focusing on epistemological matters; educator ethics; educator professional development; engendering reflective practice; postgraduate supervision; and issues pertaining to teaching and learning in Higher Education.

Julia Chere-Masopha has studied in the areas of Instructional Technology (PhD) Training and Assessment (Certificate VI); Science of Educational and Training System Design (Masters) and African Languages and Literature in English and English Language (BA.Ed & STC). Teaching experience: primary/special education school teacher (Australia), secondary school education (Lesotho) college education: English and Life skills (Australia), tertiary (Undergraduate and postgraduate) education: Instructional Design and Clinical Supervision and Educational Research Methods (Faculty of Education, National University of Lesotho), staff training and development (Academic Development Centre, National University of Lesotho); Postgraduate research supervision (Masters): Educational management and leadership, teaching and assessment. Community service and scholarship: member of Council of Higher Education Quality Assurance Committee (HEQAC), ECOL examiner, member of RCE-Lesotho Chapter, and Chairperson of Gregg Memorial Secondary school, reviewer of international journals, external examiner for Master’s dissertations and doctoral theses. Her research interests include: Rural education and curriculum alignment, ICT in teaching and learning, Education for sustainable development, Online learning, Innovative strategies for teaching and assessment.

Tankie Khalanyane is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations and B Ed Honours Coordinator, Faculty of Education of the National University of Lesotho (NUL). Previously, he was a Senior Publications Officer at the Institute of Southern African Studies, NUL for 14 years. Currently he is a doctoral candidate with the University of South Africa. He teaches Sociology of Education and Group Dynamics. He has published over ten articles in local, regional and international journals. His M Ed dissertation Power and Struggle: A Critique of Hegemony and Control of Schooling in Lesotho was published by Lambert Publishers in Germany 2010. He has co-authored a book chapter published in Public Policy Transformations in Africa in 2016. His areas of research interest are; Critical Discourse Analysis, Social Policy Analysis, Language Teaching and Education for Justice and Human Rights.

Paseka Andrew Mosia holds a Doctor of Education in Inclusive Education from the University of South Africa. He is Professor in the Educational Foundations Department and teaches courses in Education Support Service, Inclusive Education and Life Skills Education at undergraduate and graduate levels. He supervises masters and PhD students in the area of inclusive education and Educational Psychology. His research interests are on inclusive education generally, learner support and social justice in education.
