Staff Faculty: Language and Social Education

Mrs. Mankopane Lebona is a lecturer in the department of Language and Social Education at the National University of Lesotho. She teaches Business Accounting and Management of Business courses and supervises research at undergraduate level. Her research interests include curriculum studies in Accounting, Business Studies and promoting the teaching and learning of Business Studies in schools.

Lihotetso Gloria Matee is English Language Education Lecturer and researcher in the Faculty of Education at National University of Lesotho. She has been in the teaching profession for over 14 years. She was a lecturer at Botho University Lesotho where she taught Communication and Study Skills. Her research interests include among others pedagogy, curriculum studies, orality and African cultural practices. Her paper has currently been accepted by an international journal while waiting for response from local journals. She holds a Master of Arts in Education Degree from National University of Lesotho where she did Advanced Curriculum Studies and Language Education in 2019. She also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from National University of Lesotho where she majored in English Language and African Languages in 2005. In addition to her professional role as an educator and a university lecturer, she is one of the founding members of Sesiu website. Sesiu is a website meant to assist not only students but also individuals interested to learn Sesotho Language, culture and tradition.

Maitumeleng Lesia is a Lecturer in the Department of Language and Social Education in the Faculty of Education. She teaches 3rd and 4th years B.ED students Sesotho Education courses. She also teaches B.ED (Primary) students Sesotho Education courses. Her research interests include curriculum studies in Sesotho, appropriate Language usage and language corruption.

Mrs Tsiane is a lecturer in the department of Language and Social Education at the National University of Lesotho. She teaches Business Accounting and Management of Business courses and supervises research at undergraduate level. Her research interests include curriculum studies in Accounting, business studies and social entrepreneurship.

Ngoanannete D. Lekhanya is a lecturer in the department of Language and Social Education (LASED) in the Faculty of Education at the National University of Lesotho. He teaches curriculum and teaching of Development Studies courses to 3rd and 4th year students in LASED. His research interests include curriculum studies in Development Studies education, political economy, gender studies, agrarian and rural develop.

Bonane Motebang is a lecturer in the Department of Languages and Social Education at the National University of Lesotho (NUL). She lectures courses in curriculum studies in Accounting Education. Her research interests include curriculum design, development and evaluation.

Tawanda Wallace Mataka is a Lecturer and Researcher in the department of Languages and Social Education at the National University of Lesotho. He teaches linguistics and applied linguistics to 3rd and 4th year students specialising in English Language Teaching for the high school. He also teaches academic literacy from undergraduate to PhD. He is a specialist in English Language Teaching, focusing mainly on Reading to Learn pedagogy among others towards literacy development across the curriculum. His research interests are mixed methods and action research, with focus on literacy development, social justice and politics in education. He has examined research proposals for Masters to PhD for Rhodes University, Witswatersrand, University of Pretoria and Masters Thesis from University of Kwazulu Natal.

Makhulu Makumane is an Associate Professor and Researcher in the Department of Languages and Social Education at the National University of Lesotho. She is the Head Tutor and Marketing officer in the Faculty of Education. She is affiliated with the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, where she works closely with Assoc. Prof S. B. Khoza. Her research interests include curriculum studies, language policy in education, French language education, foreign language teaching, and the impact of action research on everyday teaching practice. She teaches French language education and curriculum studies to 3rd and 4th year B.Ed. students specialising in French Language Teaching for the high school. She also teaches advanced curriculum studies at the Masters level and supervises research of Masters students in LASED. She has published in local and international journals. In 2018, she received an award of being a top PhD student at UKZN.

Rasebate is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Language and Social Education (LASED), in the Faculty of Education. He teaches 3rd and 4th years students Religious Education courses. His research interest is in the areas of religion and theology, with specific concentration on religious pluralism, religious inclusivism, political philosophy of religion, political theology and African indigenous religions.
