National University of Lesotho (NUL) has been crowned the best performing institution at the Spelling A Business Africa Challenge (SABA) 1st Tertiary Edition Finals held on 10th April, 2026 in Maseru.
The competition brought together leading tertiary students from across Lesotho, focusing on strengthening entrepreneurial thinking, business communication, and innovation through a combination of business vocabulary and practical pitching.
Represented by five students, NUL saw three advance into the national Top 10 – an achievement that reflects the NUL strong academic foundation and growing influence in entrepreneurship education. All Top 10 finalists received sponsored prizes, including smartphones from Econet Telecom Lesotho and governance publications from the Institute of Directors Lesotho.
NUL also delivered an impressive competitive performance, securing both 3rd and 4th place nationally. In addition, the institution dominated several special categories, earning awards for the best feasibility and viability business idea, best sustainable business idea, and the most innovative and creative concept.
The results highlight NUL’s continued commitment to developing entrepreneurial, innovative, and industry-ready graduates. Through its strong focus on practical business education, NUL is playing a key role in shaping a new generation of problem-solvers equipped to contribute meaningfully to Lesotho’s economic growth.
