Mr. Vuyolethu Qheku is a registered pharmacist with the Lesotho Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Council. He is a Laboratory Demonstrator at the National University of Lesotho in pharmacy department. Among his duties are to assist students in compounding and formulation of extemporaneous preparations in the laboratories, oversees and develop practical manuals for pharmacy laboratory-based courses. Overseeing pharmaceutical sterile laboratory. Developing standard operating procedures, quality manuals, methods and protocols as preparation for accrediting the laboratories. Participate in departmental research programmes.

His duties include supervision of Pharmacy students’ laboratory sessions, co-supervision of Pharmacy students’ final year research and testing and evaluation of safety of herbal commercial medicines.

Dr Poloko S. Kheoane is a Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health Sciences, NUL. He teaches Pharmaceutics modules at different levels within the Department of Pharmacy and he is a Postgraduate Studies Coordinator in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Dr Kheoane’s current research focus is on different nano-structures (e.g. lipid and polymeric nanoparticles) as novel drug delivery systems for both allopathic drugs and phytochemicals. His research focus is particularly on cancer, diabetes, inflammation and bacterial and/or fungal infections.

Lecturer

Mopa A. Sooro serves as a Lecturer in Pharmacology and Therapeutics within the Department of Pharmacy at the National University of Lesotho. She is registered with the Lesotho Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Council as a Pharmacologist. She contributes to institutional research governance as a member of the NUL Institutional Research Board (IRB). Ms. Sooro holds professional membership in several pharmaceutical societies including the Pharmaceutical Society of Lesotho (PSL) and the Southern African Society of Oncology Pharmacists (SASOph). Her research interests are in personalized healthcare in cancer.

Mr. Rasemoko Polile is registered with Lesotho Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Council as a Pharmacist and registered with South African society for basic and Clinical pharmacology (SASBCP) as a pharmacologist. I am currently working as a lecturer in Clinical pharmacy in the Department of Pharmacy (NUL), and I’m also a PhD student affiliated with UKZN school of Health Sciences. My research interests focus in the management of non-communicable disease complications, antimicrobial resistance in clinical settings, artificial intelligence in screening and diagnosis of non-communicable disease; mental health disorders in clinical settings; traditional medicines phytochemical analysis; monitoring of end-stage renal disease patients using haemodialysis; drug utilization review in psychotropics and ; pre-clinical studies and in vitro testing of efficacy and toxicity of herbal medicines.

His research interests are to isolate and characterize bioactive compounds from the flora of Lesotho, towards discovery of new antibiotics that exhibit good activities against clinically –isolated strains of resistant bacteria.

I am the Head of Pharmacy Department and a Senior Lecturer and specializing in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. My research focuses on the phytochemical profiling and antimicrobial testing of Lesotho’s medicinal plants, alongside the synthesis and evaluation of protein kinase inhibitors as prospective anticancer agents, and I am passionate about harnessing indigenous biodiversity for drug discovery. I currently teach core pharmaceutical chemistry courses, mentor undergraduate students, and supervise laboratory-based research projects.

Senior Lecturer

Mr. Molungoa Sello is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy at the National University of Lesotho (NUL), with over a decade of academic, research, and consultancy experience in public health, pharmacy practice, and pharmacovigilance. Mr. Sello's research interests are centred around pharmacovigilance, antimicrobial resistance, and chronic disease management in resource-limited settings. He has led and contributed to studies evaluating pharmacovigilance systems, medicine use patterns, and cancer care access in Lesotho. Through his academic and policy engagements, Mr. Sello aims to bridge the gap between research and practice in medicine safety and pharmaceutical care, particularly in the context of Southern Africa’s public health challenges.
