Dean of Faculty of Law - Dr. Lehlohonolo L. Ramokanate
Dr. Ramokanate joined the Faculty of Law in 2017. He holds a Master of Laws degree (LLM) in Import and Export Law, and a Doctor of Laws degree (LLD) in Trade and Business Law, both of which he obtained from the North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus).
His LLD research focused on the validity of automated transactions, being commercial transactions that are conducted by Artificial Intelligence (AI) agents on one or both sides, in Roman-Dutch Law.
During his service at the National University of Lesotho, he has taught various courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Banking and Insurance Law, Legal Aspects of Economic Development, Advanced Banking Law, Legal Research Methods, Electronic Transactions Law, and selected modules in the Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance programme.
He has also held various leadership responsibilities including that of the Head of the Department of Private Law, the Chairman of the Faculty Research Committee and the Chief Editor of the Lesotho Law Journal.
Dr. Ramokanate’s research interest lies in the intersection between law, commerce and Information Technology (IT), and touches on different specialised areas contract law, agency law and electronic transactions law.
