Faculty Regulations

ESR. 1.00 The major courses are prescribed as a necessary concentration in a given programme of the Faculty.

ESR 1.01 Electives are intended to broaden students’ perspectives and buttress their major areas of concentration.

ESR 1.02 The degree programmes of the Faculty of Education normally have 108 as the minimum total number of credit hours required; the maximum being the total number of 144 credit hours.

ESR 1.03 A programme is a plan of study lasting over a specified period which leads to certificate, diploma or a degree in the Faculty of Education.

ESR 1.04 All education students are required to take and pass all prescribed core courses registered for purposes of the overall total of required credit hours in a given programme of the Faculty of Education.

ESR 1.05 In any case of application of the Special Regulations for a given programme, if an interpretation of the regulations is required, the Dean in consultation with the Heads of Departments of the Faculty of Education shall be the final arbiter. This procedure shall also be followed in granting exemptions.

ESR 1.06 Curriculum Studies, Educational Foundations, and Teaching Subjects, shall all be regarded as subjects, and each shall be considered as having a series of approved courses.

ESR 1.07 Year I is an integral part of the Faculty of Education degree programme.
